Chapter 15: Glimpse: Over

Chapter 15: Glimpse

The Elven female lowered herself in the water, her long white hair floating around her on the surface. The water felt soft, like a blanket, even when the wind around her was a bit chilly. Her breathing was calm. She had done this many times before, some being riddled with answers, others left in silence.

The Priestess let herself float, letting the water surround and engulf her like a blanket. She took a deep breath before she started to mutter some words. Her silver eyes suddenly gave a soft glow and the female fell into a trance.

“Danger is coming.”

“Who?” The priestess asked while she looked around, but she saw nothing, as usual. Only herself, like she was standing in a beam of light, but around her, it was all dark.

“They will find her …”

The Priestess looked around her with slight panicked movements.

“Who is coming? Who will they find?”

“Your daughter …”

“Fae.” The female whispered. And it was enough to know who was coming. She didn’t need more than that.

“I need to warn my Tribe!”

“It’s too late for them …”

“What …” A whisper. Her heart got covered with sadness. It was too late for them? A premonition from the future?

“We can flee …”

“They will hunt. They will hunt until they get what they want.”

“My daughter?”

“No …” The voice sounded saddened, like the source of the voice was already defeated before the battle had begun. Surrendering for what was gonna come. Or maybe she had already seen what was gonna be.

“They don’t have knowledge of her, but … it must stay that way.”

The female swallowed, feeling the fear creeping up in her blood. The instinct to run, to defend. To defend what she loved and cared for. To defend … the only thing that should not be revealed.

“But if they find her …”

“Then it will be too late. Send her away and she will live ...”

“And we … will die?”

A silence surrounded her. No answer was needed. The pressing darkness that covered the silence was more than enough.

“Is … is there nothing we can do?”

Again it stayed quiet, but this time, the Priestess could feel the presence of the one that answered. She could feel a warm feeling around her, a blanket that was dropped over her shoulders.

“I will be there … at her side. To keep her safe ...”

The elven female took a deep breath, opening her eyes.

“This is my fault, is it?”

Her memory brought her back to 16 years ago, to those nights she had shared with him. If it really was his kin that was approaching, then there truly was no escape. There was no story in history that spoke or a raid that left survivors ... And in those sad thoughts, she suddenly saw a spark of hope. If they were hunting, did that mean that he …

“No … the fault is mine.” The voice said with a sad tone.

“Now go!”

And the light around her became brighter, forcing her to close her eyes and she could feel how the divine connection was broken and how she was shot back to the physical world.
